9/25 – Juice with FX909 (Paris), Spiralus (SEA), Praderz (PDX)

FX909 (FX090 Music/Soul Deep Recordings/Fokuz -Paris), Spiralus (Ram Recs/DnB Tuesdays – SEA), Praderz (PDX), Tbone + Mulchfactor hosting!

In their own words:

The September 25th session brings some amazing talent to JUICE, starting with dnb legend FX909, who is back in the hot seat producing a prolific amount of dnb rollers right now. We’ve not been able to host him in person yet, so this is going to be really special. Regional support will be coming from one of Seattle’s finest: SPIRALUS, bringing some more soulful vibes to the evening, alongside UK-PDX local resident PRADERZ. We’re super excited and honored to host these producers, with tbone and myself warming up the earlier side of the evening.

Twitch stream starts at 7:30PM Pacific, music from 8PM – 12AM.

You can show your support and RSVP for the event on Facebook. If you missed last month’s stream with Mukiyare and Ashatack, you can find it on the Juice YouTube channel, or right here:

Tuesday listening: Spirit:Remembered Feb 2020 @ Village Underground, London

Ink, Mantra, Panka, Double O, with Blackeye MC

Check the entire playlist for sets from Fabio & Grooverider, Doc Scott, Bryan Gee, Digital, Klute, and many more.

Its 2 years ago today we lost our man Duncan Busto aka Spirit. Feels like there’s a big black empty hole where he used to be… (And there’s a [massive] hole in my DJ sets too!!!) we all miss him! So back in Feb this year we had a cracking night for him @ Village Underground on Sunday 9th Feb 2020 featuring a quality line-up. Massive thanks to each & every DJ & MC who performed on the night, even our crew that couldn’t make it to the show due to the adverse weather & severe storms cancelling flights, trains & causing havoc on the roads…!

Sample packs for days

As Covid-19 sent everything into shutdown, lots of artists had to come up with creative ways to keep their income alive. I don’t think I need to mention the advent of Bandcamp Friday, countless streams, mentoring and teaching, and one of my favorites has been the high quality sample packs that artists have been releasing.

Here’s been some of my favorites so far:

D&B Breaks Sample Pack by Fanu (€35)

One of the more expensive/expansive ones, this includes 175 different loops (even some songs) that Fanu rounded up from over the years. Especially good if you’re into breakbeats.

£10 Bag Drop One, Two, and Three by Kid Drama (£10/ea)

Three packs of high quality samples by Kid Drama. Good for tech step sounds, but of course, you can do anything with these. Lots of synth and pad sounds.

Jungle Sample Pack by TMSV (€10)

Just like it sounds. 15 bass loops, 31 breakbeats, 8 synths, 12 pads, and 21 sounds effects.

Isolation Loops soundpack by HAINBACH (pick a price)

This one is not strictly drum & bass, but a collection of piano, electrical test equipment, and other esoterica, all recorded from carefully constructed tape loops. Some dreamy stuff in here.

If you have any production material you’ve picked up lately that you enjoy feel free to share in the comments!

8/28 – Juice! with Mukiyare (MX), Ashatack (UK), Axiom (PDX)

8/28 - Juice! with Mukiyare (MX), Ashatack (UK), Axiom (PDX)
Mukiyare (Fokuz / Celsius – MX), Ashatack (Director’s Cut / Bassdrive – UK), Axiom (PDX), TBone + Mulchfactor!

In their own words:

August quarantine is looking bright with the preparations for welcoming one of Mexico’s dnb pioneers: MUKIYARE; alongside Director’s Cut badass label owner/producer ASHATACK straight outta London! These are producers we’ve wanted to have here in person for years now, so we’re super excited and honored to host their sets on the 28th. Warming up this night will be Portland’s AXIOM along with Tbone & mulchFactor bringing some some soul to your earlier evening. Get ready for hours of beats that will make you wiggle out of your seats!

Twitch stream starts at 7:30PM Pacific, music from 8PM – 12AM. Donations for this event will go to support DontShootPDX.org.
